Guten Tag, y’all!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (even if that rock is in the United States), then you probably know that the World Cup is in full swing. Since my son wasn’t even one yet, and I lived in a state that was crazy about a different kind of football*, it’s almost like this is the first World Cup for both of us.
And you know what? I have failed somewhere along this parenting journey, because even though both of the teams that we** are cheering for played yesterday, the Babycakes had no interest in sporting an American jersey. “Deutschland is the best!” he explained to me (more than once). Needless to say, my husband and father-in-law were quite proud; see how crunk they are about Germany’s first gooooooooal of the night?
Anywho. Even though I’m still learning the rules of
soccer football, I have to admit that I’m totally caught up in the World Cup hype. There’s something to be said about participating–even if only as a fan–in something that the entire world is taking part in. I really hope more Americans will start getting into it; we could definitely stand to learn a thing or two about the people we share the world with.
Are y’all watching the World Cup? If so, who are you rooting for?
**And by “we” apparently I mean me.
