Guten Tag, y’all!
Southern states are famous for their good food and friendly folks; so is Italia. So it comes as no surprise that my family is totally in love with Non Solo Pizza, a restaurant run by an Italian couple here in Wolfsburg. I discovered it this past winter when I stopped in after a long morning of German class and ordered the
manna from heaven lasagna that you see above.
I immediatley took my husband there (sharing is caring!), but it was only a couple of weeks ago that I got around to taking the Babycakes. Charmer that he is, he was soon hanging out with the entire staff. How’d he get behind the counter, though?
Well, when we came in, the Babycakes spotted a crocodile-shaped breadstick among the arancini and other foods on display. After seeing how excited Babycakes was, Mario–one of the owners– invited him into the kitchen to help make one. As we left, cries of “Ciao, bello!” followed us outside.
These little acts of kindness (and all this good food) are much appreciated in a country that’s not necessarily known for its kindness to strangers. It means even more when you’re trying to make that place your home.
For all that, I say grazie.
